Meet Maricé

Maricé Morales was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2014, as the first Latina to represent District 19 in Montgomery County, MD.

During her time in Annapolis, she sponsored legislation to reform the criminal justice system, protect immigrant communities, and protect workers’ rights.

Maricé Morales sat on the Judiciary Committee for her first two sessions, where she worked on major criminal justice reform.  Maricé Morales was later assigned to the Health and Government Operations Committee, where she focused on insurance coverage, mental health issues, and reproductive justice.

Maricé Morales received the Governor’s Award for her work combating Human Trafficking and was recognized in 2019 as one of the top 100 Most Influential Latina Leaders in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan area.

Maricé Morales currently practices law in Rockville, Maryland, focusing on immigration, criminal defense and personal injury law.

Fighting for the

MoCo Residents

WHY I AM RUNNING

I am running to represent the residents of District 4 on the Montgomery County Council in order to connect the district’s constituents to the resources they need to succeed as individuals, parents, employees, and business owners. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted existing inequities in education, housing, transportation, employment, and healthcare. We’ve suffered hardships in physical and mental health, but also discovered innovative ways to connect with each other. We are at a critical juncture as we transition out of isolation, with unprecedented opportunities to make the changes we want to see in our communities and our county.

SOME OF THE CHANGES I WANT TO BE PART OF:

  • Addressing the equity and opportunity gap and funding mental and reproductive health support in our schools

  • Creating walkable communities with infrastructure to keep pedestrians safe and dedicated bike lanes

  • Providing quality and affordable public transportation that services all of our county’s residents

  • Police accountability and community solutions for keeping residents safe

  • Significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our county to mitigate climate change and its effects

  • Meeting housing targets to support a growing population and providing affordable housing, especially around transit centers

  • Attracting and retaining entrepreneurs and young innovative companies
